I learned many things about the different file types that I didn't know before. For example, I just thought that you used jpeg's for everything on the internet, but I didn't realize that you're not supposed to use them for line art or images with uniform edges. I didn't know that most web browsers don't support TIFFs, I only knew that you never are supposed to use them online because they have large file sizes. When creating artwork for a video game (promotional artwork in this case), I would use TIFFs for anything that I want to print out, jpegs for still images that I'm going to post online, and gifs for short looping animated advertisements that would appear on the sides of websites. While creating artwork for things in-game, I would use primarily jpegs for the textures and probably use pngs for the icons.
